Angie Palacios is a Principal Specialist in the Urban Development and Creative Economies Unit at CAF – Development Bank of Latin America. From her current position as the coordinator of the urban mobility and public spaces agenda, she contributes to the development of strategies that aim at reducing inequality in the urban transport planning processes in Latin America with a vision of intersectionality between gender and other dimensions of inequality.
Her work has focused on the inclusion and mainstreaming of the gender perspective into urban transport projects and on promoting women and girls´ right to access the city and its opportunities. At CAF she has successfully incorporated the collection, analysis and use of gender and mobility data in studies and projects, which have contributed to understanding the intersection of gender and mobility, specifically in the matters of gender violence in public transport, the relationship between the perception of security and the urban environment, and the characterization of women’s daily mobility, particularly related to child and home care activities. Angie is a Fellow with the Public Voices Fellowship on Advancing the Rights of Women and Girls of Equality Now and The OpEd Project. She was also selected by the Urban Mobility Transformation Initiative (TUMI) of the German Cooperation Agency (GIZ) as one of the “Remarkable Women in the Transport Sector” in 2019.
Angie holds a master’s degree in Economic and Political Development from Columbia University in New York City and is accredited with the Gender Professional Credential from the GenderPro Alliance and George Washington University. She is Ecuadorian and lives in Buenos Aires, Argentina with her husband and son.
