Girija Borker is a development economist working on women’s mobility and access to economic opportunity in urban areas with a focus on transport and safety. A large part of her current research studies the economic consequences of sexual harassment in public spaces and assesses the efficacy of potential policy solutions. Before joining the World Bank, Girija received a Masters in Economics from the University of Cambridge, UK, an MPhil from Toulouse School of Economics, France, and a Ph.D. in Economics from Brown University.
