Jolien Vandoorne is an urban researcher and mobility advisor at the International Federation for Pedestrians (IFP), where she contributes to the Horizon Europe project Just Streets — a consortium dedicated to making urban mobility more just, inclusive, and people-centred.
With a background spanning history, journalism, and urban studies, Jolien brings an interdisciplinary approach to questions of accessibility, gender, and belonging in public space. Her work bridges academic research, advocacy, and policy, focusing on how streets can better serve diverse bodies and lived experiences.
In her current role, Jolien collaborates with European cities to promote pedestrian-friendly and equitable urban planning, represents IFP’s mission on international forums.
Having lived and worked across Belgium, Italy, Germany, Hungary, and the United Kingdom, she brings a deeply comparative and human-centred lens to her practice, fostering collaboration across disciplines and cultures.
