I am Marcela Escobar, economist and consultant with over 21 years of experience driving sustainable development and gender-focused initiatives across Central America. I hold a Master’s in Territorial Planning and Environmental Management from Universitat de Barcelona and a Master’s in Social Project Management and Development Planning from Universidad de El Salvador, which form the academic foundation of my work. Specializing in gender equity, I have led transformative projects with organizations like ONU Mujeres and CENPROMYPE, promoting economic empowerment and inclusion for women and vulnerable groups. My expertise extends to sustainability, demonstrated through my work on environmental strategies with JICA and Lux Development, alongside deep insights into public policy and the economics of care, gained through my roles within public administration and regional entities. I am passionate about integrating social and environmental impact, designing innovative solutions to address systemic inequalities and foster sustainable growth.
