Mariana Alegre Escorza

Executive Director and founder of Sistema Urbano, a Latin American ecosystem that seeks to promote urban projects such as Lima Cómo Vamos, Ocupa Tu Calle, Clima Urbano, and Nodal, with the goal of accelerating the urban transformation of the region.

Mariana studied Law at PUCP and holds a Master’s degree in Human Rights from the same institution. She also holds a Master’s in City Design and Social Sciences from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and is a Chevening Scholar. She is a full professor in the Management Sciences Department at PUCP.

Mariana walks and rides her bike through the streets of Lima, the city she loves the most, although she currently lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Awards and recognitions

She recently won the Loeb Fellowship from the Graduate School of Design (GSD) at Harvard University, becoming the first Peruvian to receive this designation. She was recognized as one of the Most Remarkable Women in Transport and Mobility during the 1st edition of Remarkable Women (2019). Additionally, she was selected as one of the 50 most powerful women in Peru (Forbes, 2022).
