Olayemi Funmilayo Dickson, CMILT MInsTA, is a seasoned researcher with over 13 years of expertise in policy research, evaluation, and review, specializing in technology-driven, knowledge-based development. She holds the position of Assistant Chief Research Officer at the National Centre for Technology Management (NACETEM), an agency under the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation. Within NACETEM, she serves as the in-house transport specialist.
Her professional focus lies in transport planning and policy, emphasizing inclusive transportation, public transport systems, logistics and supply chain management, and urban mobility. Her academic journey includes a B.Tech. degree in Transport Management Technology from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) and a Master’s degree in Technology Management with a specialization in Transport from the African Institute for Science, Policy, and Innovation Studies (AISPI), Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. Currently, she is on the verge of completing her Ph.D. in transport and logistics at the School of Transport and Logistics Studies, Lagos State University (LASU).
She has authored and co-authored publications in esteemed peer-reviewed journals, both internationally and locally, and has contributed to winning reports and proposals within her field. Olayemi is a frequent presenter at conferences, workshops, and seminars, often invited as a guest speaker. Her contributions have been recognized through various accolades, including being named one of the Top 100 Career Women in Africa 2024 by 9to5Chick and selected as one of 30 young transport professionals in Africa to participate in the Rethinking Transport Lab “Just Mobility in Urban & Rural Areas” held in Cape Town, South Africa, organised by GIZ in cooperation with the German think tank Agora Verkehrswende.
Olayemi Dickson holds several professional memberships and roles, including Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Nigeria, Member, Chartered Institute of Transport Administration Nigeria (CIOTA), Strategic Reform Committee Member at CILT Nigeria, and Research Fellow at the Institute for French Research in Africa (IFRA). She has also served as a committee member for significant national policy initiatives and international projects aimed at enhancing climate action and transport sector reform.
Passionate about advancing sustainable and efficient transport systems, Olayemi’s mission is to promote mobility, accessibility, and well-being, with a particular focus on inclusivity and benefiting all, especially individuals with disabilities.
