Reena Mahajan is an urban planner, architect and global advocate for people-centred, nature-positive cities. With over 20 years of experience across Europe, Latin America, Africa and South Asia, she works at the intersection of urban design, gender equity, climate resilience and cultural change.
Reena leads large-scale urban development and regeneration projects, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and working with public institutions, civil society and international partners to reshape how cities prioritise mobility, care, safety and everyday life. Her practice combines water-sensitive urban design, sustainable mobility and gender-responsive planning, grounded in a systems-led approach to integrated urbanism.
Beyond design, Reena is known for mobilising public debate and shifting narratives around car-dominated cities. In Montevideo, she spearheaded #MontevideoPacificada, a road-culture awareness campaign that helped reframe street safety and walking as political and social issues. She is the founder of Studio DiverCity, an independent consultancy advancing people-centred urban transformation, and StreetSmart, a civic-tech platform empowering everyday people to translate lived experience of streets into planning decisions.
