Systems and Structures: Policy, Finance, and Institutional Levers for Gender Equity in E-Mobility is an online panel discussion exploring how policy, finance, and institutional frameworks can enable women’s participation and leadership in India’s rapidly growing electric mobility ecosystem.

As India’s electric mobility transition accelerates, designing systems that enable equitable participation is critical. This webinar brings together speakers from across policy, public transport, finance, entrepreneurship, and technology to examine how structural levers can translate gender equity commitments into implementation across cities, institutions, and markets.

The session will explore how policy frameworks, regulatory mandates, financing mechanisms, and institutional systems can intentionally open opportunities for women across the EV value chain, from manufacturing and charging infrastructure to fleet management, repair, and entrepreneurship.

This webinar is the second in a series and builds on earlier discussions on skills, cultural, and operational barriers. Insights from the series will inform the development of a gender mainstreaming framework for India’s e-mobility ecosystem.

Objectives

  • Examine how policy and regulatory frameworks can enable women’s participation in e-mobility
  • Highlight financing mechanisms that support women’s skills development and entrepreneurship
  • Present the business and investor case for gender diversity in electric mobility
  • Explore how public procurement and development finance can catalyse inclusive practices
  • Draw lessons from international and cross-sectoral experiences to inform gender-responsive institutional frameworks

The event is co-hosted by UNEP, WRI India, and NITI Aayog, under a Global Environment Facility project on electrifying mobility in Indian cities.
