Women on the Move Asia and Women in Transport Leadership are thrilled to announce the release of the Jane’s Walk 2024 Compendium, a reflection of our collective journeys through 14 cities and municipalities across Asia and Australia (Melbourne) in May 2024.
In collaboration with 13 local partner organisations, we walked together to celebrate the legacy and ideas of urbanist and activist Jane Jacobs. In 2024, our shared theme “We Walk” served as a unifying slogan, inviting each participating city and municipality to explore the geopolitics of the street —uncovering stories, raising questions, and reclaiming public space through walking.
While walking remains at the heart of these events, this compendium captures how local movements across regions contextualised walking as a form of community expression, creating space for participants voices to champion walkability and push forward more inclusive urban futures.
