Co-Designing the ‘Women in E-Mobility’ Agenda in the Philippines

The “Accelerating the Adoption and Scale-Up of Electric Mobility for Low-Carbon City Development in the Philippines” project—commonly known as the e-mobility ASAP Project—is a nationwide initiative designed to support the industrial transition to electric vehicles. Funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), this project is jointly implemented by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Board of Investments (BOI), and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). It is executed in close collaboration with the Clean Air Asia Consortium, which includes De La Salle University (DLSU), the Urban Electric Mobility Initiative (UEMI), and the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP).
As part of the project, the Women in E-Mobility Network was established to promote women’s meaningful participation in the electric mobility sector. Through its Kapihan Series (e-mobility Talks), the network brings together government, industry, civil society, and women transport stakeholders to identify barriers, exchange experiences, and co-create strategies for a more inclusive transport transition.
OBJECTIVES
By the end of this kapihan session, participants are expected to:
- Identify specific Gender and Development (GAD) programs of relevant government
agencies that intersect with electric mobility; - Engage actively with government agencies to identify and refine GAD initiatives that
can attract and retain more women in the e-mobility sector; and - Establish baseline insights to help government agencies develop a harmonized GAD
plan and effectively utilize their respective GAD budgets.
